Way Beyond Cakes by Mayen

TOOLS AND MATERIALS - where I get them
BASIC MATERIALS A BEGINNER WILL NEED:
- non stick rolling pin
- pizza cutter
- sharp knife / cutter
- fondant smoother
- long serrated knife or a cake leveler
- powdered sugar duster
PLUS the basic cake making stuff-- cake pans, non stick spray, parchment paper etc

* with just these BASICS, you can already make a decent fondant cake
* DON'T BUY many cutters and molds immediately-- try to have a feel of what your direction is and what you want to learn and make most of. The dollars pile up unnecessarily of you buy it all and decide later that you didn't really need them.

WHERE TO BUY ???

Store bought Fondant
- SATIN ICE  brand is what I use, I get it cheapest at www.globalsugarart.com
                                    -  For colors RED< BROWN and BLACK, the only option I have when I want to    have the best and brightest shades of these colors, is to either buy the ready made fondant in those colors or to airbrush it.

Airbrush Compressor - Kopykake Airmaster compressor and airbrush : you can get it from www.sugarcraft.com or from the kopykake website OR if you are lucky, eBay!

Flower Veiner and Cutter Sets- I have the petunia set, hydranges set and 5 petal blossom set and I got all that from www.sugarcraft.com

Impression Mats- I have used the dots, checkered pattern and the line pattern so far, all from www.globalsugarart.com, Wilton also has nice floral impression mats

Wires used on cake toppers - I use only 20 guage craft wires or thicker  the higher the number, the thinner it gets ) you can get these at any craft store
